Black pepper’s guide to caring for your denim
Wash your Jeans LESS
The dyes that sit within the jeans fibres release with wear and wash – so to keep the longevity of the colour and fit, we recommend to wash your jeans every 10 wears or so. This will also ensure those interesting lines and creases built into the fabric stay nice and crisp. If you feel they are starting to smell or you spill something on them, try using a damp cloth or an old toothbrush with mild soap.
The cold water will ensure the colour is kept pristine and it protects the cotton fibres from becoming dull or even shrinking. Another tip is to turn the jeans inside out before washing.
Dry them on the line
The constant heat of a tumble dryer will effect the shape of your jeans – altering the size and fit. If they are hung on the line they will dry back to their perfect shape. Be careful of sunlight as it has a tendency to make the denim fade.
